Dev Diary #17 - Start with a bang 🙂
Hello fellow Surface-Dwellers!
Starting this year of with a bang 🙃
Introducing one of our favorite creature in the game - the Stargazer.
This species of deep sea fish got its name due to having its eyes on top of their heads & features a large, upward-facing mouth in a large head. their usual habit is to bury themselves in sand, and leap upwards to ambush prey that pass overhead. As always - we've taken some liberty with the designs to integrate it into the world of Samudra, in this case - its calmly kicking it back amongst stones and statues , with its rock & moss covered body-texture camouflaging well with the surrounding terrain.
The Stargazer will instinctively react to movements within its gaze radius and will chomp anything down indiscriminatingly, unless you taste really bad, in which case it'll probably regurgitate you back out into the cruel world.
So how do we slip past this vigilant bouncer of the deep you asked? Well, creatures of the deep aren't used to bright lights, so surely invading their personal space with a lantern at hand would easily scare them off right? Sure, but what if you just so happen to not have your lantern? Hm...
Forget the mistake. Learn the lesson 😌
