Dev Diary #25 - There is no planet B
Hello Surface-Dwellers,
'75 % of the used masks, as well as other pandemic-related waste, will end up in landfills, or floating in the seas. Aside from the environmental damage, the financial cost, in areas such as tourism and fisheries, is estimated by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) at around $40 billion.' - Sourced from UN News.
Wearing masks is important during this long overdrawn pandemic, however, it is more important to be responsible for what we do after we use one. Use only when you have to, recycle by using washable masks, bin it in the right place, and don't forget to snip away the straps to prevent it from strangling wildlife.
After all isn't it just sickening to know that all these used masks (with a high amount of bacterias) are floating away in the ocean where we get all our sea resources from? It's almost equivalent to dipping your used mask in the water that you drink, yes it's disgusting, now picture thousands of them floating past you while having a swim.
At the end of the day, we are aware that we are just a team of game developers - we can't be compared to environmental activists who have done so much more to the cause of environmental awareness. Our team just strongly believe in living responsibly, and in helping out with environmental cause as much as we can, in the best way we can.
So perhaps we are just a team of game developers, but we do hope that somebody somewhere looks at this and sees this message, and gains something from it, and passes it on.

Good on you for giving this warning. People need to see it.
Thanks for the support! Have a safe & lovely weekend :)
I didn't think about removing the straps. Now I'll start doing it! I hope everybody finds something that will trigger him in this diary.
Yes, it's the simplest things in large numbers that sneakily causes harm. Let's keep being more mindful towards our disposing methods :)
Have an awesome weekend JM!
